ALTOONA, IA – Class Act Productions is excited to announce our next mainstage performance of the 2023-2024 season: The Music Man JR. Performances at CAP are live theatre for families of all ages, with familiar stories condensed into 90-minute performances that appeal to audiences with shorter attention spans. Performances of The Music Man JR are Feb. 16 - Mar. 3, Fridays at 7pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. All performances are held at CAP Theatre in Altoona. By turns wicked, funny, warm, romantic and touching, The Music Man JR. is family entertainment at its best — a bold, brassy show that will have the whole town atwitter!. Based on Meredith Willson's six-time-Tony-Award-winning musical comedy, The Music Man JR. features some of musical theatre’s most iconic songs and a story filled with wit, warmth and good old-fashioned romance.
The Music Man JR. follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall.
